Cargo ships Polarnet, Rojen loaded with Ukrainian corn leave port

ISTANBUL/UN, Aug 5 (PRIME) -- Dry cargo ships Polarnet and Rojen loaded with Ukraine-grown corn have left the port of Chernomorsk in the Black Sea, and will be security checked later by a delegation of the coordination center in Istanbul, Turkey’s Ministry of National Defense said in a statement on Friday.

“A vessel loaded with 13,000 tonnes of corn has left the port of Chernomorsk to travel from Ukraine to the U.K. The route of the Rojen ship under the flag of Malta is monitored by the Joined Coordination Center,” the statement read.

“The Polarnet ship under the Turkish flag that was waiting in the port of Chernomorsk in Ukraine has also left for Karasu (in Turkey)… The vessel loaded with 12,000 tonnes of corn will also be checked by the joined inspection group in northern Istanbul before it reaches Karasu.”

The Navistar dry cargo ship loaded with 33,000 tonnes of Ukrainian corn has left the port of Odessa, Turkey’s TRT Haber television channel reported earlier in the day.

The coordination center in Istanbul has also started checking the Fulmar S ship that will then head for a Ukrainian port to deliver the grain, the ministry said.

The U.N. said late on Thursday that the Joined Coordination Center has approved the departure of the two ships from the port of Chernomorsk and one ship from the port of Odessa on Friday to deliver 58,041 tonnes of corn.

It also approved navigation of the Fulmar S ship to Chernomorsk.

On July 22, the participants of negotiations on the Ukraine grain exports reached an agreement, and safe corridors to export the grain were expected to appear in two weeks.
